Further Reporting Options
Botting Reports
If you suspect another player of using unofficial software to play, you will be able to report this player to us. All incoming reports will be processed and then analysed. The evaluated data will be used internally for our anti-cheating measures.
Rest assured that bot reports cannot be abused by players. Reported characters and their accounts will not be excluded from the game due to any unfounded accusations. Only if there is sufficient proof for illegal activities, appropriate measures will be taken.
Public Statement Reports
In addition to name reports, players will be able to report illegal statements from the public chat channels. This will allow an easier and more straightforward reporting of inappropriate chat behaviour to the customer support team. However, public statements shall only be reported if they are clearly illegal. Please understand that reports of minor offenses might be rejected.
Note that until further notice, statements in party channels, guild channels, private chat channels and the default channel as well as private messages remain unaffected and still cannot be reported.
In order to make a bot report, public statement report or a name report, open the context menu by right-clicking either on a character or a statement and choose "Report Offense". The current regulations to avoid the spamming of reports remain.

Chill And Grill of Tibia
Sometimes, however, Tibia's developers join a discussion for a short time to directly answer a question or add a comment on a certain issue. These have been very rare cases, though, since the main communication takes place between the players and the community managers. We are the direct link between CipSoft and you, the community. Nevertheless, players enjoy these special moments, especially when they get one of their questions directly answered by a developer. So we thought about feasible ways to provide more of these possibilities to get in contact with other CipSoft teams.

Tibia new map beautiful landscape
At first, the general shape of the new continent was created. Just on the floor level, without any mountains and dungeons. Then, everyone in the team got a printed shape of the new area and drew his or her version of the map: where the mountains are located, the cities and how the area should look like in general. Different designs were talked through and after having come to a conclusion, the areas were assigned to different team members. As soon as they had received the graphics they had requested from the graphics department, they started to build the new areas. "First of all, the general floor tiles and shapes were set, followed by houses, ruins, quest areas and unique landmarks. In the end, decoration such as plants, stones or even rubbish were added," Denson Larika explains. "For the Dragonblaze Peaks, for example, I worked from ground level to the top. Level after level. Then I hollowed the peaks and built the caves for the dragons." The monsters were placed after the whole map work was done. What followed was a time of adjustments and fine-tuning, hopping on and off the internal test server to test hunting grounds. With the start of the external test server, the whole content team was then busy with bug fixing and tweaking things further.
The ideas for the quests and missions in Zao came along with the development of the new continent. Certain quest types were necessary to introduce players to the new area, its inhabitants and its lore, and to guide them around. Other quest ideas evolved around the given themes. The Tomes of Knowledge quest, for example, is a nice way to unlock things like nifty furniture and creepy dungeons. At the same time, the content team could use them to make some selected excerpts of the massive background story accessible in smaller bits for those who are interested in it.

To get things started, we community managers will share one of our funniest moments in our Tibian life with you.
Rejana : When I began my Tibian life in Rookgaard, a bit more than 5 years ago, I earned my living by killing animals and selling meat to NPCs. So I thought that trading food is a good way to make money. Then when I came to Venore, I was pretty lost at first and after I had bought my first spell, also broke. So I thought: "OK, I need to make money." Since I had no idea where to go, I fished for a while. After I had about 10 fish, I wanted to find out where I could sell it, so I asked in the chat channel: "Where can I sell fish?" - a player messaged me and said: "I buy, how many you got?" - I answered truthfully: "10". He said he would take all, and I was happy to have found a buyer that quickly. Nervously I got ready for the trade. When he saw that I offered 10 single fish, he broke out in loud laughter, just said "noob" and left. I was confused, and didn't understand what happened, so I messaged him again, and asked what I had done wrong. And he said that he had expected that I had 10 BPs of fish, that he had never heard of anybody trying to sell 10 single fish.
Mirade : If I remember correctly, it was back in 2008 when I suddenly felt the need to get a better outfit for my character to make her look more fancy. The jester outfit looked cute and seemed rather easy to get. I started to collect some things for the outfit quest. I had the pretty amount of around 15k sleeping in my bank account - which was quite much for me - so I decided to buy green tunics to trade them for a green piece of cloth since you need one in the quest. But then I thought it might be a good idea to have several green pieces of cloth in store, just in case... At that time 40 green tunics were necessary to get 1 green piece of cloth from Irmana. 10 green pieces of cloth sounded like a decent number so I had to buy 400 green tunics. I withdrew 10k from my bank account, enough money to buy them from Rudolph in Edron. Well, something I had not considered was my capacity. I was around level 22, I think, with a maximum capacity of 820, but it was always pending between 300 and 400 due to my equipment. So I bought 400 green tunics that weighed more than 3000 oz together!!! I was so shocked when I realised that the majority of my green tunics was placed on the square I was standing on, only a few had made it into my backpack... Yeah, what happened then was me running back and forth between Rudolph and the depot in Edron trying to save as many tunics as possible. Of course, there were some players who noticed the pile of tunics, made fun of the situation and spread them all across the shop. In the end, I managed to secure around 250 tunics. Well, at least I proved to be worthy of the jester outfit, I guess Bozo would have laughed himself to tears if he had seen me running to and fro.
Funny stories added on February 05 :
Colzpaggie : I was exploring around, I loved the Tibian lands. I wanted to know more, what's over there? What's in there? What if I do that... Anyways... I was walking and walking, and I came across a hole! For those who know me, they can easily guess what was the first thoughts of me. Yup, I wanted to know what's in there! But I was afraid of few monsters, like that poison spider! Anyways, I decided to keep going. But to make sure that I wont lose any of my equipment in case of dying, I grab them all into my backpack and hide it in nearly safe place. And now I'm totally without any gear! I went down, walking and walking... Uhhh. It's all safe, I'm alive and there's nothing to be afraid of. So, I'm done here, shall I leave? Yea,... Urhh.. My rope? Where is it? WHERE THE HECK IS MY ROPE?!!
Yetharius : Before I really understood how to use parcels, I used to put some stuff behind a tree, log out, and go on another character and grab the items. But then I decided it was too risky and decided to not be so lazy and actually READ about how to use parcels. Actually parceling is quite simple, and I have no idea why I was foolish enough not to use it sooner. At any rate, I parceled a few empty bags to myself, then a few pieces of gold. After I was impressed enough to know it works, I made a whole new character, got him to level 8 and took him to the Thais depot. Then parceled all my items to my new character. But the box just stood there on the mailbox! OMG! Of course, a few players who often hang around the depot begging saw this as a great opportunity for some free "itens" and scrambled to get the package. As luck would have it, someone who I am relatively familiar with got it safely to a depot box and he stood there until I managed to get beside him. I thanked him profusely and checked the parcel's label. But the name and location was fine! I logged out and then back into the new level 8 character. But my friend was no longer there in the depot. In fact, everyone was different, and the rubbish on the depot floor was moved. Then it hit me. I made the guy on a different server.
Victory Paladin : Once, I was going to Plains of Havoc and found a lower level player. He had his life very low and politely asked for a food. Because of kindness, I gave my only dragon ham to him. Without hesitation he took it and threw it in a lake. Confused, I asked why he had done this, he asked me a question: "You think I'm stupid? You think I do not know is that meat is poisoned? You're trying to kill me, you noob." After crying with laughter, I returned to my hunt and never offered dragons ham for low level players again.
Hupefupe : It was 2006 or 2007 and my guild engaged in a forever-lasting war. We've been losing terribly to the opposite team, but unexpectedly some high level elite knight joined us. He was very ambitious and devoted, so he advanced in ranks really fast. After a month he'd join our ventrilo and ask: "How do you become a vice leader?" “"You can't, unless you send your application to our leader and he accept it," we responded. After a short conversation, he got an address and all details. Before we explained that it was a joke, he disconnected from Ventrilo and headed to local post office to send an application (photo included!). Our leader back then was [...] Israeli. I can imagine his face after receiving a mail from Polish applicant who asks to become a vice leader of guild Eternal March.

Spring Patch 2010
All players are now able to report character names they find disturbing. For more details on how this works, please have a look at the corresponding FAQ entry.
Premium players can now enjoy two happy hours: Within the first two hours of stamina, which means up to hour 40, they get 50% more experience points.
If a character has 14 or less hours of stamina left when killing a monster as the highest damage dealer, the loot of the monster gets destroyed.
Besides several improvements of the bot detection tool, characters that are banished now get kicked out of the game within a narrow time frame.
In addition to the features presented in the teaser, some further changes have been made. Information about banishments will no longer be displayed on a character page from now on, no matter if the character is hidden or not.
Besides a couple of minor bug fixes, there is now a solution for the error that sometimes occurs when logging out. If the client tells you that you are already logged in with a character even though that is not the case, you will now just have to log in and out with the affected character to solve this problem.
The patch will be downloaded automatically when you log into the game. If you should encounter any problems, you can alternatively download the new client 8.55 from our download section.

New Dev Note about Character World Transfer
We would like to give players the chance to move their characters to other worlds if they do not want to continue playing on their character's original world anymore. Since a character world transfer is a huge step that does not only influence a character's future but also has an impact on a server's community, there have to be some restrictions, of course.
So are you curious to find out more about our concept? Then have a close look at the dev note and read it carefully. We are interested in your opinion and your input. Tell us what you think about it, what you like or dislike about it and most importantly, explain the reasons for your answer. Help us to tweak this idea or tell us where you see flaws and weak points. Keep in mind: the more constructive your feedback is, the better we can work with it!
We also want to call attention to our new feedback form dealing with quests in Tibia. What are your most favourite and least favourite quests in Tibia and why? The content team will evaluate your feedback to see where there is need for action and what could be improved in future quests.

Spring Is in the Air!
This year's spring patch is around the corner so we want to give you a short outlook on the features it will bring along.
Name Reports
As we already announced in the featured article about our vision of rule enforcement, the spring patch will enable all players to report character names directly to our customer support team. If you want to report a name, a new ingame reporting dialogue will guide you through the reporting process step-by-step. On your account management page, all reports you made within the last 30 days will be listed. A report will be pending until it gets processed by a customer support member. You will then see on your account page if a report was accepted or rejected.
To avoid the spamming of reports, there are two important regulations players need to keep in mind when reporting:
- You may only have two pending reports at the same time on your account.
- Within the last 30 days, the sum of pending and rejected reports you have may not exceed four.
If you reach one of these limits, you will have to wait until it does not apply anymore to be able to make further reports. Once again, we would like to emphasise that you should only report an illegal name if you really feel disturbed by it. If it does not bother you, you do not have to feel forced to report it just because it might violate a Tibia rule.
Bot Detection Tool Improved
Further improvements of our detection tool have been developed. Please understand that we cannot reveal further details about these tweaks except the following: Characters that receive a banishment will get automatically kicked out of the game within a narrow time frame. This is something that many players have wished for in the past.
Low Stamina, No Loot
In addition to our automatic detection tool, another anti-cheating measure will take effect. As you probably know, stamina indicates the time that is left until a character is too tired to gain experience while hunting in Tibia. With the spring patch, we will implement a feature specifically designed to prevent the unlimited profit gained by users of unofficial software. If a character with 14 or less hours of stamina left kills a monster as the highest damage dealer, the complete loot of the monster will be destroyed.
Extended Happy Hour
Premium players currently gain 50% more experience points for every monster killed in the first hour of stamina, which means up to hour 41. This sweet bonus helps players who do not have much time to play to keep up with others. We will make this even sweeter and expand this happy hour so that premium players get 50% more experience points within the first two hours of stamina, which means up to hour 40. In addition, the regeneration time of these two happy hours will get a little boost: For every 10 minutes a character is logged off, it regains 1 minute of its stamina.
Pits of Inferno Short Cuts
Up to now, the short cut between the Plains of Havoc and the room with the teleports to the demon domains gets activated only after leaving the reward room and completing the quest. However, reaching the teleport room is not that easy so we want to reward the brave adventurers who manage to get there by granting them access to the short cut as soon as they enter one of the throne rooms.
In addition, a new short cut will be activated once a character has completed the lever riddle. You can then use a quest door that allows you to skip the 4-way riddle and the lever riddle and takes you right to the point afterwards where you can continue the quest. Please note, that characters who already completed the lever riddle before the spring patch have to do it again to activate the short cut.
Miscellaneous
There will be several other things coming along with the spring patch:
If one of your characters receives a namelock, you will have three chances to rename it. If the third name proposal gets rejected as well, the character will receive a name from the name generator.
The fansite items of TibioPedia.pl (Ferumbras Doll), TibiaSpy.com (Orc's Jaw Shredder) and Tibia-Wiki.net (Bag of Oriental Spices) will get implemented.
With the spring patch, the character creation page will get a new make-over. We will add a filter that allows to sort worlds according to PvP-type and location. Furthermore, some extra information about the character world transfer will be added to the page you see before initiating a transfer.

Release of New Extra Services
Next Tuesday, February 23, we will make another step forward and further extend our service package in order to satisfy the great demand for additional extra services in the community. These extra services will be implemented next:
Character Sex Change : Until today, changing the sex of a character has only been possible for premium players. With the upcoming adjustments, this feature will be turned into an extra service which is available to all players. Instead of charging premium days, a fee of € 2,95 falls due for using this extra service.
Character Name Change : If you feel that a name does not fit to your character any longer, you will be able to change your character's name. Every old character name will be listed on the character page for six months, though, and your character can also be found by using the old name during that time. For this extra service, a fee of € 6,95 is charged.
Account Name Change : When you create a Tibia account, we advise you to choose an account name which is unique, hard to guess and only known to you. If you want to change your account name afterwards, you soon have the chance to do so. This extra service will be available for a fee of € 4,95.
All extra services are payable either by credit card via the Tibia payment system starting on Tuesday, February 23, or through our official resellers a few days later. However, please keep in mind that it is our resellers' decision whether to offer these extra services or not. Therefore, extra services might not be available at all resellers.
Further details concerning our new extra services will be provided in an upcoming news article. Please also note: On February 23, the Tibia payment system and the Tibia website will be updated. For that reason, they will be temporarily shut down for about 1 hour starting at 13:30 CET.

Our Vision of Rule Enforcement
Many players inform us via our different feedback channels that they wish for a better rule violation reporting and rule enforcement system.
So we sat down, and developed a vision of such a system, trying to tackle as many negative points as possible that have been raised in the past.
Vision
- In this vision, all players report rule violations to our inhouse customer support team. In prior discussions some of you have told us that you fear unfair banishments from gamemasters or unfair reports from tutors and senior tutors. Your reasoning was that they are also Tibia players who are part of the community themselves, with their own friends, enemies, conflicts, and interests. So, to eliminate all abuse potential, all of your reports are taken care of by professional employees of CipSoft. This ensures that your reports are taken care of with the necessary amount of objectivity.
- Also, in our vision you are able to report a player whenever you feel disturbed by a rule violation. No more waiting for a gamemaster to come online, or for a tutor or a senior tutor to report an illegal name or public statement.
- Currently, you can only make one rule violation report at a time. So you often have to decide who you want to report if you come across several rule violations. In the future, you will be less restricted in regards to the number of reports you can make. However, to avoid the spamming of rule violation reports, the amount of open reports you can have has to be restricted.
- Further, your rule violation report will definitely reach our customer support team. Nowadays, your ingame report disappears if you log out. In the future, your report will still exist, even if you leave the game. You will be informed when you successfully submitted a report, and you will be informed again when your report was processed.
- Our customer support team will investigate your report and consider the context of each rule violation, to ensure that all punishments are fair.
- If a player should ever feel that he was treated unfairly, he will be able to complain to the same team of professional employees that will then handle the complaint as soon as possible.
- In our vision, banishments will become a private matter to avoid any lynch law ingame. Only the banished player and the customer support team will be able to see and discuss the details of banishments.
- Rules that are unclear and difficult to understand ought to be eliminated. For example, in prior discussions many of you have told us that it is difficult to know all game weaknesses if you are new to the game. So we plan to exclude all game weaknesses with time. No player ought to be punished for using something that is technically possible ingame and not considered a bug.
- All these changes will make discussions about the interpretation of the Tibia Rules unnecessary. You, as a player should report another player only if you feel disturbed by his or her rule break. Our customer support team then has the right to decide banishments on a case-by-case basis, always considering the context of a rule violation report. Depending on the severity of the rule violation, there should be more harshness or leniency.
In the future, the Tibia Rules will form a guide of what is reportable in Tibia, however, please note that nobody has to be reported. Nobody should walk the lands of Tibia actively looking for rule violations. You are not obliged to report anybody. We want to be able to help our players when their fun in Tibia is affected negatively by another player. We want to take care of cases in which players actually feel disturbed and have problems due to the rule violation of others. A good example to clarify this point is a chat among you and your friends. If you are used to a certain type of tone which, strictly speaking, violates the Tibia Rules, none of you would feel disturbed by this. So there is no need to report each other. However, if another player insults you without any reason, you might actually feel disturbed. In such a case, we hope to be able to help you in the future.
Difficulties
In our vision our customer support team is able to handle all reports easily with this new reporting system. However, we know that we will meet several difficulties on our way. For example, as mentioned already, we will have to find a way to avoid the spamming of rule violation reports from a player whose only goal is to occupy our customer support team unnecessarily. Tibia's multilingual nature will most likely be a big challenge for us as well. We need to evaluate all effects of all changes thoroughly, in order to be able to adapt and react quickly to any arising difficulties. So we will approach our goals with small steps. The first steps
The first step of this transition process will already come in short time. With this year's spring patch we plan to enable all Tibia players to report names to the customer support team.
When you have the ability to report names, please keep in mind that you should only report an illegal name if you really feel disturbed by it.
In the long run, we plan to give all players a tool to contact us whenever they feel disturbed by a rule violation.
Some of you might wonder now, what will happen with our tutors and our voluntary gamemasters. Our voluntary helpers have been doing a very good job up to today and we are really grateful for their help. We think that these two groups should form one group of voluntary helpers in the future, who will then focus on their main role as active helpers, to provide answers for players who have questions or problems, and they should not play a role in rule enforcement anymore. As explained before, we feel that rule enforcement should only be handled by professional employees in the future. This will also mean relief for several tutors, for example, who were often blamed for banishments and punished by other players ingame for reports they had allegedly made.
While the rule enforcement in Tibia is in the transition process, the old system will of course apply. We will not make any drastic changes, unless we can ensure that our changes yield a better alternative than the previous system.
Once we have adapted to the changes that all players can report names, and everything works fine, we would like to open up the rest of the current reporting system to all players, which might then also include private chat channels. Please understand though that we cannot present you a time frame for this yet, since we have to evaluate the effects of all changes beforehand. Depending on these results, our goals might even change in the course of the transition.
Further details about the upcoming changes will of course be presented to you in due time in a teaser before the spring patch 2010, so stay tuned!
We hope that the upcoming changes will provide a much more effective and satisfying rule enforcement in Tibia that is easily accessible for everybody.

Succeed After Rook in Tibia
At level 9 make sure to buy the spell Light Healing (exura) for 175 GP.
After purchasing exura, knights should find a place with many rotworms in order to gain skill. Use a weak weapon like a knife, club or sickle. Paladins would do best using small stones. A shield, such as those you might find in Rookgaard, is also reccomended.
Druids and Sorcerers should get rods or wands respectively, and buy exura as soon as possible in order to raise their magic level, so they can do more damage with runes and heal more hit points. At this stage you could kill something stronger than rotworms but make sure you have a good escape plan (and try not to get killed).
At level 10 all vocations should buy ‘Antidote,’ which heals poison. (This is strongly reccomended, as you will likely be facing poisonous creatures, such as scorpions, centipedes, and slimes soon.)
At level 10 all vocations should buy ‘Antidote,’ which heals poison. (This is strongly reccomended, as you will likely be facing poisonous creatures, such as scorpions, centipedes, and slimes soon.)
At level 11, Druids, Sorcerers and Paladins should buy the spell 'Intense Healing' (exura gran) which heals about double as much as Light Healing.
Now you should be all right until level 14, unless you want to purchase a good light spell. In which case, get ‘Great Light’ at level 13 or get a newer rod/wand.
At level 14 all mages should IMMEDIATELY get the ‘Magic Shield’ spell (utamo vita) and upgrade your wand/rod. Paladins can get it now or later. It comes in handy when you are in danger as any damage inflicted upon you will be subtracted directly from your mana points instead of hit points. (Mages should use this sparingly, however, because it can very quickly subtract mana points that may be needed later.)
By this level, you should be at least hunting Cyclops or creatures that give around 100 experience. (Slimes work just as well, as Cyclops can be difficult to kill at lower levels.)
Get to level 20 like this. At level 20 the first thing you should do is the 10 k quest which will give you 10 k and some other items (beware of player killers who kill you after you recieve the 10k). Also be sure to buy the ‘Ultimate Healing’ spell (exura vita).
At this stage you should be considering Premium. It helps HEAPS, it gives you more spells, hunting areas, runes and you can buy a vocational promotion for 20 k. It isn't required, though.
At level 23, sorcerers should keep hunting monsters and try not to die. Druids can buy it but its recommended that druids go to level 24 an get Ultimate Healing Rune (adura vita). Make backpacks of these runes as they sell for around 3 k on most servers. If you really want to get a high magic level, use your money to buy mana fluids, as they will speed up your magic level considerably.
At level 25, buy Summon Creature spell (Utevo Res 'Creature Name'). Now you should be able to hunt dragons, but take some Intense Healing Runes, just in case. Summoning 2 Demon Skeletons can help you considerably. Monks work just as well at higher levels, as they can heal themselves. Paladins can get this spell as well, but it won't help very much
You'll gain good loot from doing this, and quite a bit of xp. Once you’ve gotten to around level 35, you should be able to solo dragons and/or giant spiders without summons. Knights should also get Berserk if they have premium and a promotion
By now if you really want to be good, you'll have brought premium and can go on hunts with groups of people or you can buy a whole heap of premmie spells which will enhance your hunting in making it easier an faster to level
By now, you can hunt anywhere in the non premium land- even farther if you actually bought premium. A good spot is Orc Fort or POI or The Second Floor of DC (Dark Cathedral)
At level 45, Premium or not, sorcerers should get Sudden Death Rune. It’s the strongest rune in the game an it sells for 5-6 k per backpack.
At level 80 you should’ve worked out the game. You can kill almost anything.
100 + Do the Annihilator Quest an try the POI Quest.

Tibia Combat Works Guide
Only one target can be attacked at a time. Attacked characters or creatures always get a chance to defend themselves against attacks even if they do not retaliate. Note, however, that no more than 2 attacks can be blocked at a time. The outcome of a fight is determined by a number of factors including the attacker's and defender's skills, equipment, set combat mode, and also a random factor. Each time the attacker lashes out at the defender his attack value is calculated and compared to his opponent's defence value.
If the attack value exceeds the defence value, a hit has been scored, and the damage done is displayed as a little number on top of the injured character's or creature's head. On the other hand, a little puff of smoke is displayed if an attack has been blocked successfully by the defender, while flashing sparks indicate that the defender's armour has protected him against a blow.2. Damage TypesDamage types allow you a greater variety in your attacks. All creatures have more or less stronger sensitivities against one or more damage type. By using the weapon or spell of the right damage type, you can bring down your enemy much more quickly and easily.
There are 7 different damage types in Tibia: fire, ice, energy, earth, death, holy and physical.Sorcerers are the masters of energy and fire damage. However, they are also able to make the strongest death damage rune - the legendary "Sudden Death" rune. Druids are especially skilled in all ice and earth spells. Paladins are the only vocation that can use holy spells. Knights yield mainly physical damage, but depending on what kind of weapon they are using, they can deal out also fire, ice, energy or earth damage.
Skills, Equipment and Combat ModesAs has been said before a character's performance in combat is determined by three factors: his skills, equipment and the combat mode he is set to. The skill that is used to calculate a character's attack value is determined by the weapon that is currently wielded. Note that if no weapon is equipped at all, the fist fighting skill is used. The same is true if you are trying to use a weapon of another vocation.Items determine a character's performance in combat in accordance to their nature.
For instance, armour such as legs or helmets will reduce the damage caused by successful hits, while the bonus yielded by shields is used to calculate a character's chance to block attacks. Special clothing and certain amulets can also help you to reduce the damage of a certain type. Moreover, you should choose your weapon, runes and spells according to the characteristics of your opponent.Weapons are generally characterised by 2 values, since they influence both a character's attack and defence value.
Additionally, some one-hand weapons have a defence modifier which will either reduce or raise your defence value whenever you are wearing a shield in your other hand. Also note that your attack value will drop if you are wielding a weapon for which you are too inexperienced. Some weapons can also be enchanted by using magical stones, produced and sold by sorcerers and druids, to add a certain damage type to them. You are always well-advised to check out the weaknesses and the strength of your foe before you go into battle.
A fire-resistant armor and an ice-enchanted weapon are surely a good choice for your next dragon hunt. Finally, the combat mode a character is set to also influences his chance to successfully attack or defend. For instance, characters that are set to "Offensive Fighting" have an increased chance to hit their opponents, while their chances to successfully block attacks are reduced. Conversely, characters that are fighting defensively will receive a bonus to their defence, while the strength of their attacks is reduced. Please note that changing the combat mode takes a bit of time, so you will lose one attack whenever you do so.4.Distance
Fighting Distance attacks are handled similar to melee attacks. Characters or creatures who fight from a distance will fire or hurl projectiles at regular intervals. However, characters will only use ammunition and weapons for which they have the required minimum level. Note that the actual distance between attackers and their targets has an influence on how successful distance attacks are - the larger the distance the smaller the chance to hit.
Note, however, that distance fighters will also receive a to-hit penalty if they are firing at an opponent who is standing right next to them! What's more, distance weapons such as bows and crossbows are ill-suited for melee combat, since they require the use of both hands. Because of this, distance fighters are well advised to maintain a moderate distance between themselves and their enemies. However, if your character is a skilled distance fighter and you cannot avoid a melee situation, you should equip him with a throwing weapon and a shield rather than a bow or a crossbow.
Please note that thrown weapons vanish sometimes when used.5. Protection Zones Unless characters play on optional PvP worlds, they are free to attack each other once they have left Rookgaard. However, even on worlds with open or hardcore PvP combat there are areas where characters are not allowed to fight each other. These areas are called "protection zones". You can tell that your character is standing in a protection zone by the little icon displayed in the condition indicator field. Players standing in protection zones are perfectly safe from any offensive action, even if others are trying to attack them from outside. Conversely, players cannot perform any offensive action inside protection zones.
Note that the regeneration of hit points and mana is also disabled in protection zones, although food will be consumed normally.Protection zones are usually found in temples, depots, ships or in private houses. Also the pyramids in Ankrahmun are protection zones that cannot be entered by somebody that has a protection zone block. Your character will not receive a protection zone block when attacking a member of your party or when fighting back after somebody has attacked you.Special protection zones are Tibia's swimming areas.
As soon as you jump into the water, your character will be cleaned from all special conditions. Also you can neither use "Invisible", nor "Creature Illusion", nor the "Chameleon" spell, nor stealth rings in the water. Additionally, it is impossible to use the safe trade option while enjoying a bath in the Tibian sea.Players can seek shelter in protection zones anytime, provided they are not affected by a protection zone block, and they can stay there for as long as they like. Note that although characters can be pushed around normally within protection zones it is impossible to push them out of protection zones.
